Blackberry Picking

Our little farmers have been busy again this weekend. There was a definite feel of Autumn in the air as we put on our waterproofs and wellies and braved the British drizzle to gather some blackberries from the hedgerows on the farm.

It is fair to say that our children have had a good proportion of their five a day from blackberries today, we couldn’t pick them fast enough to start with. Thankfully they ate their fill and we have managed to bring some home for our freezer. I’m sure there will another blog post soon with some ideas of how to put the blackberries to good use!

This is an activity than any family can get involved in and it is absolutely free. So why not go and find some hedgerows and hopefully some blackberries near you. It would be great to hear what you have been making with them too!
