Congratulations to Lynda for completing the MONASH University Low FODMAP Course!

MONASH University launched a new online training programme in 2017 entitled ‘The Low FODMAP Diet for Irritable Bowel Syndrome’.

Our very own Dr Lynda Rigley was one of the first Dietitians to sign up to the course and has now successfully completed it!

The Low FODMAP diet is a diet low in fermentable carbohydrates and it is an evidence based diet to help people with IBS manage their symptoms, including pain, bloating, diarrhoea and constipation. The diet is complex, it has a restrictive phase followed by a structured re-introduction or challenge phase. It is not recommended that anyone undertakes this diet without support from a Dietitian or qualified healthcare professional due to the risks of nutritional deficiency and gut bacteria inbalance.

The course involved a series of 10 modules with an exam at the end of each and a final exam to pass the course. Lynda has worked incredibly hard over the last 6 months to complete this training alongside her clinical work and home life.

We will be launching our new service for patients with IBS over the next few months… watch this space!
